'2003 - BEST PRACTICE
IN VITREOUS ENAMELLING'

IVE ANNUAL TECHNICAL SEMINAR
BILBAO, SPAIN 2003

8th to 11th June 2003

  • Why dont you try our style of seminar if you have never been to one before, we are sure that you will come back again and again.

  • Forget the boring condescending type of seminar
you will learn from this one and enjoy it too.

  • If you have an interest in enamel, then join us and be prepared to change your mind about technical seminars!

THE SEMINAR

The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers is the only body in the U.K. which provides education on vitreous enamelling. This Seminar is designed for anyone with an interest in Vitreous Enamelling. These Annual Seminars are recognised as the training ground for the future of the enamelling industry. To maintain our reputation for doing something new, this year we are going to Spain. The highlight of this will be a visit to the enamelling plant of Fagor Electrodomsticos.

THE VENUE

The Seminar will be based in Bilbao. The Los Tamarises Hotel is in the lively coastal residential area of Getxo and just across the road from Eraega beach. It is within a few minutes of Bilbao Sondika airport and fifteen minutes from Bilbao city centre. This will be our centre for overnight accommodation and meals and for the presentation of the technical papers. The hotel is equipped with all of the facilities which you have come to expect.

Bilbao is a vibrant industrial city in Northern Spain right on the coast, but not far from the magnificent Northern Pyrenees and the Cantabrian mountains. Home to the famous Bizkaia transporter bridge, it is also a centre for culture and art.

Bilbao is served by an airport and a port. Frequent flights from the UK are available along with a ferry service from Portsmouth.

The Fagor Electrodomsticos enamelling plant is acknowledged to be one the most state of the art plants in Europe and is certainly one of the cleanest and tidiest that you will ever see. This company pioneered the use of powder on a large scale when the rest of the industry was still thinking about it. All of the processes you would expect in modern domestic appliance enamelling plant are there. If you want to see domestic appliance enamelling as it should be done, then this visit is an essential once in a lifetime chance. Dont miss it! We have said it before, but the advantages of going with other enamellers can never be underestimated - all of those other pairs of eyes!

THE SUBJECT

We are presenting a selection of papers, with a general theme of Best Practice, which is very appropriate with this years visit in mind. Following on from last years' very successful seminar where we covered the theory of application techniques, this year we move to the next step - how to do it. Mixed in with this will be a range of fundamental and theoretical papers. The final list of papers is still being prepared and we will add it as soon as possible.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

If you are interested in enamels or enamelling, then you should be there! This seminar is aimed at finding out the best ways to do it. We will encompass the usual combination of practice, theory and discussion. With a background of a visit to Fagor Electrodomsticos what better way of doing it. And, of course dont forget the opportunity of liaison offered during these seminars is one of the best ways to ensure the future of our very specialised industry.

As usual, our seminar offers some unique opportunities in a value for money package. It will cost you considerably less than any other comparable form of seminar. The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers runs these seminars for the benefit of its members, not to make a large profit. The registration fee includes all accommodation costs and meals.

The package will interest managers, technicians and practical personnel. As a supplier of raw materials or frits, you will have a chance to find out what your customers really want. As a customer, who actually does the enamelling, you will have a chance to see and discover the latest technology and practice. The technical papers have a range of subjects which will interest all enamellers. A special feature is a full forum on the future - where will we go next? We have allowed plenty of time for this, to enable discussions to be completed. Delegates will be registering during the Sunday evening to minimise the loss of time of your critical personnel. This will limit the duration of the Seminar to two full weekdays.

The visit to the enamelling plant of Fagor Electrodomsticos is a once in a lifetime opportunity to view the very peak of best practice in vitreous enamelling. We are most grateful to Fagor Electrodomsticos for opening their doors to us and we urge you to take this rare opportunity to visit this plant and to enjoy the visit with your colleagues and other with like-minded enamellers. The benefits of this are well proven over years of our seminars - better thirty pairs of eyes than just yours!

If you have been to one of our Seminars before, then you will know that we have planned ample time for formal and informal discussions. We are well aware of the importance of informal discussion time and we ensure that there is plenty of time available. These Annual Technical Seminars have become the highlight of the information package provided by The Institute of Vitreous Enamellers. So, if you want to update your knowledge and to be really involved with the continuing future of vitreous enamelling, then YOU need to be there

FORMAT OF THE SEMINAR

VENUE

The Seminar Hotel, Los Tamarises, was built in 1934 and is considered to be one of the better hotels in the area, offering a perfect setting for business and pleasure. Why not extend your stay and enjoy some of the beautiful surrounding area or the city of Bilbao. We will be spending three nights here, from Sunday 8th June to Tuesday 11th. This will allow you to arrive in Bilbao on the Sunday and depart on the Wednesday. We will take all of our meals here commencing with dinner on Sunday evening with the exception of lunch on the day of the visit which will be at somewhere just a little different near to the Fagor plant.

TRAVEL

We are not including travel to Bilbao in the package. Many of you will want to travel from local airports or even take the more leisurely ferry. Or you may want to travel early and have a relaxing weekend before the seminar. Or you may have some business in Spain after the seminar. So we are leaving travel to and from Bilbao up to you.
